Integrating a community-led chronic pain service across the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Sector and NHS: Insights from the innovative Rethinking Pain service in Bradford District and Craven.
This report, authored by the Leeds Beckett University Pain Research Team (set to be published in April 2025), examines how Bradford & Craven Health and Care Partnership commissioners, voluntary and community sector (VCSE) organizations, people accessing the service, clinicians, healthcare professionals, and place-based community leaders collaborated to achieve transformative, integrated system change. Their collective efforts led to the development, implementation and evaluation of Rethinking Pain, a community-led chronic pain support service delivered across Bradford District and Craven.
The purpose of this report is to provide insights and recommendations for policymakers, the voluntary and community sector, the NHS, Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership and other stakeholders. It aims to inform future practices by presenting a larger-scale model of a community-led NHS integrated care approach that has not been available before.
